Tour Description
This is a wonderful shore excursion that allows you to discover the Etruscan Coast of Tuscany, away from the hustle and bustle of the city!
Our first stop on this tour will be Volterra, one of the twelve main cities of Etruria, the Etruscan confederation. There are many interesting sites to see in this town such as: the Etruscan Acropolis Ruins, the Medicean Fortress and Tower, Priori Square and Priori Palace, the Cathedral, the Baptistry, the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum, the Museum Of Sacred Art, the Roman Theatre and Thermae, and the Art Gallery, surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of Tuscany.
Later on we will head to Bolgheri, a charming tiny village closer to the coast and known for its super wines.
Bolgheri is located at the end of Viale dei Cipressi, the longest Cypress Avenue in Italy ( 5 kilometres ) with over 2400 Cypress Trees (1200 on each side of the road). Bolgheri became more and more famous when Giosuè Carducci wrote the famous poetry “Davanti San Guido”.
We highly recommend a delicious lunch in one of the restaurants of Bolgheri, we will be happy to reserve a table for you. Authentic local food and wines are waiting for you! On the way back to the port a Gelato stop is mandatory!
Bolgheri is one of the most famous wine regions of Tuscany and Italy. By choosing this option we will reserve a wine tasting and mini tour in one of the most beautiful wineries in the Bolgheri DOC area. Additional 40 Euros per person to be paid on site, directly to the winery.
The driver might choose to start either from Volterra or Bolgheri depending on traffic and weather conditions.
